A Letter from David, October 2013
This year, I did things a little different and took my events national.
And, what better way is there to kick things off than a cameo appearance at our nation's capitol on the finale episode of CBS' The Amazing Race? Yes, that was me!
The only thing that could top that was the Book Expo America (BEA) conference in New York City.
It was exciting to see so many people from around the world come to an event that was dedicated solely to books!
Even one of my favorite things, meeting a community during one of their celebrations, was done on a bigger scale with the Printer's Row Lit Fest in Chicago.
And, I made a return trip for my first ALA conference there.
I couldn't forget about my home state.
I came back early from BEA for the regional author reception at the Benton Harbor Public Library in southwestern Michigan.
And, in between my Chicago visits, I attended the Interlochen writer's conference in northern Michigan.
Other highlights of my summer include: the AJC Bookfest in Decatur, Georgia and the Florida Heritage Book Fest and Writer's conference in St. Augustine.
It was truly an amazing year of events!
